Its compact, wall-hung design allows for flexible indoor or outdoor installation and supports 5.1 cm or 7.6 cm venting for long runs, making it ideal for homes or businesses requiring reliable and continuous hot water.
This model features Navien’s patented ComfortFlow® system with a built-in recirculation pump and buffer tank to eliminate temperature fluctuations and minimize hot water wait time. Dual stainless steel heat exchangers enhance durability, while the EZNav™ control panel simplifies setup and operation. The NPE-240A2 supports cascading with up to 32 units and common venting with up to 12, and is field convertible for natural gas or propane use. With ultra-low NOx emissions and advanced safety features, it delivers efficient performance without sacrificing reliability.

Built-in recirculation system
Navien’s patented ComfortFlow ® system is the first to include a buffer tank, recirculation pump and fine-tuned controls into a tankless water heater, resolving the cold-water sandwich effect* and issues of minimal flow rates commonly found in other tankless water heaters.
* The “cold-water sandwich effect” is the undesired introduction of cold water into the hot water supply line on occasions of frequent on/off operations. (Measure Guideline: Transitioning to a Tankless Water heater, DOE, Sept.2012).
The built-in recirculation pump allows the NPE-A2 to recirculate water either through an external recirc line or through existing supply lines while using NaviCirc®, without the need for external pumps or controls. A genuine upgrade
Picked this up after comparing a few options and I'm glad I went with the Navien version. Noise level is lower than I anticipated, which matters a lot in an open-plan space.
Decent but not amazing
It works fine for basic needs, nothing extraordinary but nothing terrible either. It's a bit noisier than I'd like, especially at higher settings. Still, it gets the job done for now.
Works better than expected
After months of research this water heater was the one that made the most sense for our space. The finish holds up well and hasn't shown any wear after regular use.
